Nielsen is looking for a Business Analyst for the Audience Measurement Custom Analytics team. Custom Analytics is a new team within the larger Audience Measurement Product organization that is  tasked with the assessment, solutioning, development and implementation of custom studies for clients. These deliverables typically include requests for data sets and features that are on the longer term roadmap for our core products, but not immediately available for client consumption.  This includes custom deduplication of platforms that are not available in our standard product suite, the reporting of advanced audiences, and other similar requests.  
 
Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions which can then be answered by data-driven analysis and recommendations
  • Experience with Agile methodology, writing user stories, managing scrum calls, prioritizing backlog, etc
  • Dig within data to discover “pearls” of actionable insight
  • Coordinate across several internal teams  to manage the completion of each project
  • Act as a trusted advisor to our internal business partners helping to grow their knowledge of new custom solutions 
  • Communicate effectively and succinctly both in written format and verbally, with all levels of an organization
  • Command a room by thinking on one's feet while giving presentations
  • Understand the Nielsen enterprise architecture within the context of existing platforms, services and strategic direction. 
  • Exhibit strong aptitude in your product domain (understanding the systems involved, the technical component flow, specific aspects of the methodology, etc.)
  • Adhere to release governance practices and any required audit documentation

 
Qualifications

  • 2+ years of analytics or digital marketing experience (advanced degree can be substituted for experience).
  • Significant coursework or degree in fields such as Marketing, Communications, Business, Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or Economics (with a quantitative emphasis).
  • Comfortable working with large data sets and exploring big data
  • Enthusiasm for applying statistical analysis to address business issues
  • Ability to adjust communication to speak to both a subject matter expert who knows the details of statistical model and to a senior level business development executive who needs to make a business decision
  • Consultative story-telling ability to turn data into insights and package for a C-level audience to maximize impact
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, capable of handling several projects at a time while meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Prior MTA and/or agency experience is a plus, though not required
