This hands-on, technical-lead, position will take a leading role in designing & implementing, from the ground-up, the technical implementation of Nielsen’s Data Science as a Service’s various machine learning-based workflows. This role could assume management responsibilities as we build out the team.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Work directly with internal & external clients to design and implement machine-learning workflows that delivers transformative information and insight-driven decisioning to our clients. You’ll:

  • Exert technical influence over teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, machine learning & automation

  • Drive technical solutions to complex business problems, from lightweight automation to designing and building robust/scalable solutions, with a strong focus on optimization

  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, and software engineering best practices

Role Requirements:  

  • You have 3-5+ years of professional work experience in software and/or machine-learning engineering or related disciplines with direct experience developing software applications and/or machine learning pipelines

  • Experience with sophisticated data mining & modeling solutions, and tools that support them such as Scikit-learn (Python)

  • Proven leadership; you are able to inspire and mentor team members

  • Experience with implementing and managing software in cloud-based environments such as Azure / AWS

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD workflows including github & Jenkins

  • Extensive experience with relational database management system (RDBMS), with strong knowledge of SQL

  • Extensive experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, streaming and parallel computing, with a strong knowledge of Spark, Flink, and/or Kafka

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Well organized and capable of handling multiple mission critical projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

 

  • Self-motivated and an ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

  • Manage projects consisting of cross functional teams including data science, engineering, and product leadership

 

  • Familiarity with Airflow, Docker, and/or Kubernetes, or related

 

  • Advanced degree in computer science, machine-learning or related technical field required
