ASSOCIATE RESEARCH MANAGER, NIELSEN ESPORTS

To continue our strong growth, Nielsen eSports is seeking a talented market research professional who will be responsible for the set-up, coordination and delivery of marketing research services to global esports clients. Research programs will include global fan insights, industry audience & revenue estimations, brand/sponsor tracking, and a variety of customized survey-based projects suited to specific client needs. The role involves working with third party agencies, multiple client stakeholders and cross-functional, global research teams in the Sports and Games space. Experience of conducting similar large-scale international studies and delivering excellent research reports and client servicing to international esports, sports, and/or gaming clients is essential.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, coordinate and deliver quantitative research programs to global esports clients
  • Proactively manage each stage of the end-to-end research process supporting the eSports vertical in Nielsen Entertainment
  • Produce client reports and presentations by providing insight and advising on strategy with a focus on the goal of the end user
  • Collaborate effectively with the sales and client service teams to identify client opportunities and support client sales pitches and ongoing service
  • Support client proposals by developing study designs and estimating costs of projects
  • Study industry trends and insights to deliver impactful reports to all clients
  • Be a Thought Leader in the eSports space by providing expertise and input in both internal publications in Nielsen Entertainment and external publications in the industry
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in the Nielsen Sports and Games verticals to collaborate on cross-industry clients, projects, and research subjects
  • Develop relationships with other research institutions which enhance Nielsen eSports’ ability to win and deliver projects around the world

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong incoming knowledge of and interest in esports; a personal passion for esports and gaming is strongly desired
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in designing, selling and delivering quantitative custom research projects
  • Strong questionnaire design skills, and the confidence to manage complex research design where there are multiple internal and client stakeholders
  • Deep experience of data visualization, and outstanding ability in explaining complex things in a simple, accessible way - both verbally and visually
  • Strong skills using research analytics tools e.g. SPSS and spreadsheeting/charting tools
  • Client and commercial mindset, with a proven sales track record in relation to the type of projects described above
  • Strong affinity for attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working in a matrix organization across virtual teams and/or in multiple time zones
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and see multiple projects to a successful conclusion
  • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving – a natural desire to find the “why” behind the “what,” in professional and everyday life
